International Ambassadors

The International Center's International Ambassadors are a prestigious group of international students chosen to represent the international community at Winthrop University. The International Ambassadors receive a scholarship from the International Center and, in turn, give volunteer hours to the Center to represent international students through programming and attending various events both on and off campus.

For example, International Ambassadors:

  • Serve as International Orientation Assistants for all new incoming international students during International Orientation held each August and January.
  •  Assist in planning/programming for the U.S. Department of State's International Education Week, including the International Center's Annual Taste of the World celebration.
  • Participate in Winthrop's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service event held on MLK Day every January;
  • Attend the Council of Student Leader's LIFT Leadership Conference;
  • Learn to work as a team by completing Winthrop's Outdoor Education Center's ROPES course;
  • Plan and execute Winthrop's annual International Bazaar.
  • Participate in a service learning project each semester to emphasize the importance of our international students across campus and in the Rock Hill community.

If you are interested in attending Winthrop University and serving as an International Ambassador please review and complete the required International Ambassador Scholarship application.
