Ximena(2)

Ximena Perez-Velazco is a senior human nutrition major from Cheraw, South Carolina. She had an early start in her experience of leadership at Winthrop, as she was a member of the Emerging Leaders program, that she credits with the majority of her growth as a member of the community. In her time at Winthrop, Ximena has served as an Orientation Leader, an executive member of the Zeta Tau chapter of Alpha Delta Pi, and as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar. Perez has capitalized on her time at Winthrop by remaining active in several organizations related to her major and participating in undergraduate research. In addition, Ximena worked as a research fellow at the University of Illinois in the subject area of cultural nutrition competencies. In 2018 Ximena was named Winthrop University's Greek Woman of the Year and says that this speaks to the fact that she spends most of her free time participating in on-campus activities that allow her to support her peers. She is proud of her work serving the campus community to the best of her ability.
