Meet the 2022-23 President

Miguel

MIGUEL CALDWELL (Student Body President)

Miguel Caldwell is a Senior elementary education major from Camden, South Carolina. Since his freshman year at Winthrop, Miguel has constantly sought out opportunities to serve. He entered as an Emerging Leader and this program really sparked his passion for servant leadership on campus. During that same time, Miguel was heavily involved with the Winthrop cohort of the national Call Me MiSTER program, which aims to recruit minority males in the field of education. A main tenet of this program is servant leadership and Miguel has exemplified it. Miguel served as a Resident Assistant for two years, and he is currently a Close Scholar, a member of Call Me MiSTER, a member of the Diversity Committee for the College of Education, and a member of the ELITE Xi Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. It is very common to see Miguel hanging out around campus in the dining hall, residence halls, and campus center with friends who have become family. Miguel’s personable approach to leadership has allowed him to serve from the heart with intentionality. Miguel looks forward to serving the student body and the success that the service will bring.
