Minor in Human Nutrition

If you love nutrition but have chosen a different major, you can still include nutrition as a minor to help differentiate yourself from others in your field. The minor in human nutrition consists of 1 chemistry course and 15 semester hours of coursework in human nutrition. Of those 15 semester hours in nutrition, at least 6 semester hours must be above the 299 level. The courses you choose must be approved by the department chair.

  • CHEM 101 (3 credits): Applying Chemistry to Society
  • CHEM 201 (4 credits): General Chemistry I

  • NUTR 221 (3 credits): Introduction to Nutrition
  • NUTR 222 (1 credit): Introduction to Nutrition Laboratory
  • NUTR 229 (2 credits): Nutrition Assessment
  • NUTR 321 (3 credits): Nutrition Metabolism
  • NUTR 322 (1 credit): Food Composition Laboratory
  • NUTR 323 (4 credits): Science of Food Composition and Preparation
  • NUTR 380 (3 credits): Nutrition Education
  • NUTR 421 (3 credits): Nutrition through the Life Span
  • NUTR 428 (3 credits): Community Nutrition

Please keep in mind as you plan your course progression, no course may be included in two minors or in a major and a minor. Additionally, a minimum of 6 hours of NUTR credits need to be above the 299 level and not all courses are offered every semester.
