About the Department

"I have truly had an amazing, unforgettable, positive experience. I definitely think I was the lucky intern. All of my preceptors have been outstanding!"
  --Winthrop University graduate, Dietetic internship

The Department of Human Nutrition is dedicated to providing quality educational experiences for students and preparing them to think critically; the programs prepare graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary to become leaders in the field of nutrition. The undergraduate program meets the academic requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, which is a prerequisite for applying to accredited dietetic internships. Students completing the BS in Human Nutrition receive a Didactic Program in Dietetics Verification Statement required for dietetic internship applications. Students take courses in sciences including chemistry, human physiology, and microbiology.
