50th Anniversary of Greek Life Celebration

All Greek alumni are invited home to Winthrop for an on-campus celebration, April 17-18!

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will host Greek Week for current Greek students, April 13-17. Check the schedule of events below for Greek Week events alumni can attend!

Registration for events closes on Wednesday, April 8.

(R) denotes registration required and ($) denotes cost associated with the event.

    Greek Week Kick-Off
    5-7 p.m. | DiGiorgio Campus Center lobby 

    Kick off Greek Week with energy, pride and unity! Greek students and alumni are invited to the DiGiorgio Campus Center lobby for refreshments and the unveiling of Greek banners to set the tone for community engagement and campus spirit throughout the week.

    Greek Week Carnival 
    11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Campus Green

    Step right up! Chapters will host classic carnival-style booths, interactive challenges, friendly competitions and plenty of school spirit. There will be something for everyone to enjoy!

     

    Greek Week Trivia
    6-8 p.m. | The Edge, located on the ground floor of the DiGiorgio Campus Center

    Put your knowledge to the test! Greek Week Trivia will feature questions about campus traditions, Greek history, Winthrop Greek milestones and more! 

    Greek Games 
    11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | Campus Green

    Let the games begin! Inspired by the spirit of the ancient Olympics and the strong bonds of Greek life, Greek Games will bring together fraternities and sororities to highlight teamwork and friendly competition. Wear your letters proudly and bring your A-game!

    Greeks Give Back - Community Service

    Greek Week concludes with an on-campus community service project for students and alumni. Embodying and living out the values of leadership, service and civic engagement are integral to fraternity and sorority life. Details of the service project, including time and location, will be announced soon.

     

    Morgan-Holcombe Alumni Center Open House
    2-3 p.m. | Stewart House 

    Visit the Morgan-Holcombe Alumni Center at the Stewart House to see how Winthrop history has come to life. Staff from the Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections will be in attendance to answer all your Winthrop history questions. The Morgan-Holcombe Alumni Center was made possible by Betty Morgan Holcombe, Class of 1956. The Stewart House is located at 525 Eden Terrace, Rock Hill, SC 29733.

     

    Campus Tours with Student Ambassador (R)
    3-4 p.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. | Meet at Joynes Hall 

    Tour campus with an hour-long walking guided tour by a Student Ambassador. Tours are offered at 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Register here for campus tours!

    Calling all Greek alumni! Kick off the weekend festivities with fellow alumni to celebrate the past and look to the future. The evening will begin with remarks by Joel Hamilton '06, chair of the Winthrop Board of Trustees and member of Pi Kappa Alpha, followed by a roll call of Greek organizations, Greek alumni fundraising announcements and more. Following the program, alumni are invited to a reception that will include historical memorabilia from the Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections, heavy hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine.

    Legacy in Letters: Greek Student and Alumni Luncheon (R)

    Greek students and alumni will gather for a luncheon to celebrate 50 years of Greek life at Winthrop! Wear your Greek letters or 50th Anniversary of Greek Life T-shirt. The event begins at 11 a.m. with photos for each Greek organization and the program will begin at 12:15 p.m. with welcome remarks followed by a buffet lunch. 

    Each Greek organization will take a photo in the West Center at the time noted below. Please arrive before your scheduled photo time so you don't miss the photo!

    Spend the afternoon with current Greek students and fellow Greek alumni at the Greek open house. Visit your fraternity or sorority house for a walk down memory lane. No Greek house? No problem! Each Greek organization will have a designated space on campus to gather. Locations of on-campus gathering spaces will be announced in April.

    Hoppin'

    Raise a glass with your fellow Greek alumni at Greek After Dark at Hoppin'! A DJ will be spinning tunes. Beer, wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Fresh Press food truck will be onsite for food purchases or order food deliveries to Hoppin'! After 8:30 p.m., the private party ends and Hoppin' will open to the public, so the fun can continue! 


Winthrop University Bookstore 

Stock up on your Winthrop gear at the Winthrop University Bookstore! Located inside the DiGiorgio Campus Center on the first floor, the bookstore will be open during the times noted below. When you check out, let the bookstore staff know you are a Winthrop graduate to receive a 10% discount on your purchase! Winthrop College alumni, be sure to check out the Winthrop College collection available exclusively in the bookstore!
