This Winthrop/ETV Poll was conducted among 657 randomly selected African Americans in South Carolina, and has a margin of error of plus/minus 3.82 percent at the 95% confidence level. In other words, if we were to conduct this poll with the same number of randomly selected people twenty times, we could confidently expect our results to be within 3.82 percent of the "true" percentage of the total population nineteen times. As is true with all survey data, reported results that use only a subset of the data will have a slightly higher margin of error.
This is the second in a series of four telephone surveys of South Carolinians that will be conducted over the next year by Winthrop University's Social & Behavioral Research Lab in partnership with ETV (South Carolina Educational Television).
