What makes Winthrop special to you? Winthrop is special to me because of the people that I met when I attended. Every step of the way I was pushed and encouraged to try new things or do things outside of my comfort zone, like becoming a RA in the residence hall, or taking a backpacking class and spending a weekend in the mountains rafting and hiking ten miles to set up camp for the night.
What is your favorite restaurant in Rock Hill? The RoCo (The Roasting Company)! I love to sit on the outside patio, watch the cars
go by and it’s always a bonus when people bring their dogs. I suggest that you order
the chicken over rice con queso. Their garlic potatoes are also to die for.
What is your favorite event to attend in Rock Hill or the local area? The Rock Hill Christmas Parade and the Annual Tree Lighting that takes place on campus
in front of Tillman Hall.
Why should a student pick Winthrop? Winthrop is a great size school where you won’t get lost in the crowd but it’s big
enough that there’s always something to do and get plugged into. With over 80 clubs
and organizations, everyone can find “their people”.
What advice do you have for students during their search process? Keep an open mind as you look around and never be afraid to ask questions. You are
looking for your home for the next four years and you want an environment that you
can see yourself in that will allow you to grow.
