What makes Winthrop special to you?

Winthrop has very small class sizes where faculty-mentor relationships nurture a personalized learning environment for student success. These personal mentor relationships with faculty is unique and not found at other schools that have graduate assistants teaching courses.

What do you love about Winthrop?

Winthrop values diversity, global learning and inclusiveness. Winthrop University leverages the diversity of its campus community to drive creativity, innovation and critical thinking.

What is your favorite local restaurant in Rock Hill?

Rock Hill has a lot of great restaurants but the one I frequent the most is the Roasting Company. I love the laid back atmosphere, proximity to Winthrop, outdoor dining and daily specials. I definitely recommend the chicken nachos.

What is your favorite thing about Rock Hill?

Rock Hill has some of the best outdoor parks and sporting venues in the state! The area has a river, lake, bike trails, velodrome, BMX competitive track, beautiful soccer, baseball and softball fields. Large indoor facilities for basketball and volleyball tournaments. Rock Hill also has wonderful golf courses and has been dubbed “Football City USA.” For sport enthusiasts, Rock Hill offers great recreation facilities for every activity.

Why should a student pick Winthrop?

Winthrop’s location near Charlotte and situated in one of South Carolina’s fastest growing cities provides students great opportunities for internships and professional development.

What advice do you have for students during their search process?

Students need to visit campus, speak with students and professors in order to choose the university that will make them successful and provide the opportunities that they are seeking.

Who is your Role Model? I have had lots of role models, mentors and people that I admire. My first and most influential role models were my parents. They taught me a lot about the importance of education, having a strong work ethic, discipline and integrity.
