Meritorious Service to Winthrop University and the Board of Trustees

WHEREAS, Timothy Blane Sease ’87 has served with distinction on the Winthrop Board of Trustees since his election by the South Carolina General Assembly in 2009; and

WHEREAS, while performing his board service, he adeptly chaired various committees of note over those 16 years, including Student Life & Athletics from 2016-2020; Institutional Advancement & Development from 2020-2021; and Finance (Audit, Budget and Compensation) from 2021-2026; as well as served on the Nominating Committee at the behest of leadership; and was a faithful member of the Executive Committee; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sease’s greatest contributions in recent years were made as Finance Committee chair whereby he performed fiduciary duties with great depth, the Board and Winthrop’s administration consistently benefited from his insight and wisdom gained from his over 30 years of financial services expertise; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sease brings honor to his Alma Mater by currently serving as Executive Vice President, Managing Director of Investment Services, with SouthState Bank, where he is responsible for leading the company's Retirement Plan Services Group. He has been with the company since 1995, previously serving as President and CEO of First Southeast Investor Services; and

WHEREAS, earlier in his career, Mr. Sease served as President of Home Financial Services, Inc., and in several roles at Home Federal Savings Bank of South Carolina, including Director of Retail Banking, Vice President of Deposit Services and Asset Liability Analyst; and

WHEREAS, his exemplary knowledge and experience were recognized in 2007 with the Winthrop University Distinguished Service Award, a fitting tribute to a deserving professional whose formative years were spent at Winthrop earning a communications degree with a business administration minor and whose Winthrop service included the presidency of the Winthrop Alumni Executive Board; and

WHEREAS, over the years, Mr. Sease’s passion for serving others has extended well beyond Winthrop to the Trident United Way Board of Directors, South Carolina Make-A-Wish Foundation, lay leadership in his church, as well as many other charities and organizations; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sease’s great love for his Alma Mater only pales in comparison to his devotion to family, including his wife, Tina, and twin sons Christian ’16 and Chandler.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED the Trustees, the President, the Winthrop University faculty, staff and students do hereby convey their deep respect and profound gratitude to Mr. Timothy Blane Sease, and do commend him for outstanding meritorious service to the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary to the Board of Trustees shall certify that the Winthrop University Board of Trustees approved this resolution on the 25th day of June 2026, in a regularly scheduled meeting. Such resolution shall be maintained and publicly posted by the Secretary of the Board in a time and manner as required by law.
