RESOLUTION TO HONOR MR. G. SCOTT MIDDLETON FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE ON THE WINTHROP UNIVERSITY BOARD OF TRUSTEES


WHEREAS, Winthrop University with grateful appreciation, does hereby acknowledge, commend and honor the five years of distinguished service of Mr. G. Scott Middleton as a member of the Winthrop University Board of Trustees; and

WHEREAS, his participation on the Board and as a representative and ex-officio member of the Executive Board of the Winthrop Alumni Association has been characterized by his dedication to excellence through which his high level of commitment to education will long be evident in the achievements of the University; and

WHEREAS, Scott Middleton has been a notable alumnus committed to enriching the Winthrop legacy, even within his own family by raising a son and daughter, who like their father, attended Winthrop; and

WHEREAS, he has employed his business acumen in the development of student success and potential by providing over 200 internship opportunities in his locally developed businesses and through serving on the College of Business Administration's Health Care Management Program Advisory Board, as well as providing substantial financial resources to ensure that Winthrop students continue to receive the same high quality education and opportunities that contributed to his own career and life success; and

WHEREAS, throughout his life, he has exemplified a giving spirit to all who need assistance and specifically has distinguished himself as a key philanthropic donor to the University through his generosity in the founding and support of the Agapé Senior Healthcare Management Endowed Fund and Agapé Involvement Award, as well as many other Winthrop funds and initiatives;

THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Winthrop University Board of Trustees and President Dan Mahony, on behalf of the students, faculty and staff at Winthrop University, and the extended public higher education community, gratefully acknowledge the advocacy and concern that Scott Middleton has demonstrated on behalf of higher education in general and Winthrop in particular, and in commending him for outstanding meritorious service, do wish him every success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
