WHEREAS, the addition of women's lacrosse as an intercollegiate sport will create
increased opportunities for women's participation in intercollegiate scholarship sports
as defined in Title IX; and
WHEREAS, the addition of women's lacrosse an intercollegiate sport will open new recruiting
markets and will lead to increased enrollment; and
WHEREAS, the addition of women's lacrosse will lead to increased net tuition revenues
for the university;
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of Winthrop University that
women's lacrosse be added as an intercollegiate scholarship sport at Winthrop University
with the Eagles' first team to be fielded in Spring 2012.
