The Board of Trustees has reached a new stage in the search for the next President of Winthrop University with the announcement of three finalists (see below). The search committee has indicated the successful candidate for the presidency will honor the academic enterprise, have an appreciation of and affinity for the traditions and milieu of Winthrop and the region, and have experience with the demands of leading a public university. Among the characteristics the board seeks for Winthrop’s visionary leader are strategic perspective, a commitment to preparing students for productive and fulfilling lives, exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, a collegial leadership style, and exceptional fund- and friend-raising skills.
