Family Day schedule

Check-in for Family Day starts on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 9-10:30 a.m. in Tuttle Dining Room, McBryde Hall.

Families will receive a warm welcome from Shelia Burkhalter, vice president for student affairs, in McBryde Hall at 10:15 a.m. Guests will fan out across the campus to participate in academic showcases for each college.

The Eagle Family Lunch and musical showcase starts at noon and features performances by the Department of Music’s Choirs, Concert Bands, Jazz, and Commercial Music Ensembles under the trees on the front lawn of Byrnes Auditorium. President Edward Serna ‘02 will greet guests during lunch.

Activities from 2-5 p.m. will occur in several locations on and off campus. Families can decorate a pumpkin from a locally sourced pumpkin patch, compete in a trivia challenge for prizes, have fun creating a tasty decorated fall cookie with Dining Services, scale the West Center’s climbing wall or have a sketch drawn by a caricature artist.

Families also can sign up to add to Winthrop’s beautiful campus by helping to plant a tree or other plant(s) on Family Day for future Eagles to enjoy. Off campus, there are plenty of places to explore, including Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill in York or Cotton Hills Farm fall festivities.
