Winthrop Students Advance to National Semifinals in Prestigious Singing Competition

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – Winthrop University certainly hit some high notes at June’s National Association of Teachers of Singing student auditions. Several outstanding students, all under the instruction of Adjunct Professor of Music (voice) Craig Allen, have advanced to the national semifinals. They are:

Musical Theatre Category

Wren Thompson
Nathan Wheaton

Commercial Music Category

“These outstanding performers stood out among hundreds of competitors from across the country, showcasing exceptional vocal talent and artistry,” Allen said.

Additionally, three more students qualified for a round focusing on YouTube performances. They are:

Jaylin Brown

"Their success is a testament not only to their incredible talent, but also to their dedication, discipline and hard work," Allen said of his students.

The top three singers in each national semifinal category will have the chance to audition in the national finals.
