ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Imagine entering a university with 36 credit hours already under your belt.
That will soon become a reality for local students in Rock Hill, thanks to a new dual enrollment partnership between Winthrop University and Rock Hill Schools.
Launching this fall, the Business & Leadership Dual Enrollment Program will allow students to take courses in writing, economics, accounting, and more while simultaneously earning high school and college credit. Instruction will take place on both the Winthrop campus and in Rock Hill schools.
Leadership from both organizations will celebrate the program at an event on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 9 a.m. in Whitton Auditorium. The event will include a ceremonial signing and words from Winthrop Board of Trustees member and Rock Hill Schools parent Isaiah Venning ’95, ’00.
“This partnership represents the very best of what can happen when communities come together to invest in our students’ futures,” said Winthrop University President Edward Serna ’02. “Together with Rock Hill Schools, we’re opening doors to opportunity and creating a direct pathway to college and career success. The Business & Leadership Pilot Program is more than a shared initiative—it’s a shared vision.”
“This groundbreaking partnership with Winthrop University sets a new standard for academic opportunity in our region,” said Rock Hill Schools Superintendent Deborah Elder. “Being the first to launch the Business & Leadership Dual Enrollment Program reflects our commitment to innovation and student success. Our students can now graduate high school with up to 36 college credits and a clear, seamless path to a degree in business administration. It’s a game-changer for their futures and for workforce development in our community.”
