ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University recently was recognized as one of Money Magazine’s Best Colleges in America 2025.

The magazine considered all of the four-year public and private nonprofit colleges in the country, a group that totals more than 2,400 institutions. Its analysis showcases the country’s top colleges based on graduation rates, cost of attendance, financial aid, alumni salaries and outcomes.

Institutions with below-grade graduation rates, financial difficulties and fewer than 500 students were eliminated. Winthrop was among 73 colleges that made the grade.

President Edward Serna ’02 said national rankings reflect the commitment of Winthrop faculty and staff to student success and a desire to continuously improve the Winthrop experience. “We have worked thoughtfully and intentionally to make the Winthrop experience even more affordable as evidenced through our Tuition Transparency Initiative. Most students and families are paying less and are able to clearly see where their money is going. We’re proud that these efforts are being recognized by third-party endorsements that hold a lot of weight with prospective students.”
