ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA – Winthrop University’s College of Business Administration has once again earned an extension of its accreditation through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB).

"There is no doubt that this accomplishment was well earned by the exceptionally talented and dedicated faculty and staff in the College of Business Administration, and this accreditation is a testament to the quality and rigor of the college's academic programs, ” said Interim President George Hynd.

According to P.N. Saksena, dean of the College of Business Administration, the college has been accredited by AACSB since 1979, and only five percent of colleges of business globally have earned such distinction. “The vote by the AACSB Board to confirm full extension of our accreditation validates our commitment to continuous improvement and to delivering a transformative education to our diverse student body,” said Saksena.

The accreditation means the college has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development and student learning. During the multi-year accreditation process, schools must focus on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB’s accreditation standards. These standards require excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
