Winthrop University has long been recognized as one of the premier destinations for disc golf in the country. As the proud host of both the Collegiate Disc Golf National Championships and the U.S. Disc Golf Championship, Winthrop offers student-athletes the unique opportunity to compete at a nationally recognized venue and become part of a rich tradition of excellence.
The program continues to achieve success at the highest levels of collegiate competition. In 2026, Winthrop's own Kyle Krieckhaus was crowned the Division III Collegiate Singles National Champion, further solidifying Winthrop's reputation as a leader in the sport.
The Disc Golf team welcomes players of all skill levels—from experienced competitors to students looking to grow their game, build community, and represent Winthrop in regional and national competitions.
Winthrop University's disc golf facilities are located at Winthrop Lake, adjacent to the recreational fields and sand volleyball courts, and feature two outstanding courses.

Winthrop University's disc golf course is located at Winthrop Lake next to the recreational fields and sand volleyball courts. Winthrop University offers two challenging courses for those who are interested in playing disc golf. The Lake Course, the shorter of the two, is an 18-hole walk around the beautiful sight of Winthrop Lake. For throwers who are just beginning or who want to play for the enjoyment of the game, this course might be the one for you. The Gold Course is one of the most challenging courses in the area. Some of the best disc golfers from around the world show up each year to play this course and participate in the U.S. Disc Golf Championships, which is hosted by Winthrop University. The 9,800 ft course will lead you on an adventure around the Winthrop Recreational and Research Complex area.
