LGBTQ Statistics

Gay, lesbian, and bisexual people experience sexual violence at rates equal to or greater than the general population. (GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project)

It is estimated that 1 out of 4 LGBTQ youth will experience abuse from a dating partner.

Dating abuse affects all youth, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, class, race, or other identity lines. However LGBQ/T youth may not know they are experiencing abuse due to gender-based information and education on dating abuse.

A national study of youth in same-sex relationships found that 14.6% of males and 26% of females reported psychological abuse, and 24% of males and 28% of females reported physical abuse from a dating partner.

21% of TGQN (transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming) college students have been sexually assaulted, compared to 18% of non-TGQN females, and 4% of non-TGQN males. (RAINN)
