ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — Students applying for admission to Winthrop University will now have another way to do so. The university has partnered with Common App, a powerful online college application platform that serves more than three million applicants, teachers, counselors and advisors across the nation and world.

“We are excited for Winthrop’s inclusion and partnership with the Common App,” said Vice President for Access and Enrollment Management Eduardo Prieto. “We continue to provide access and opportunity for a prestigious Winthrop education and experience while also expanding the university’s visibility to a broader base of prospective students and families.”

Each year, more than one million applicants use the platform, approximately one-third of whom are first-generation students. Common App is a non-profit membership organization “dedicated to access, equity and integrity in the college admission process.” The platform allows prospective students to streamline their application process, i.e., applying to multiple institutions and discovering institutions they may not have otherwise considered.

Common App also provides students additional information on financial aid and scholarships, and access to virtual mentors, online portfolios and counselor resources in both English and Spanish.
