Winthrop University is seeking a chief fundraising officer who will provide a strategic
vision and philanthropy plan that will enhance the advancement of the mission of the
university. The search committee has determined three candidates who best fit the criteria outlined in the Vice President
for University Advancement position description. The candidates are presented below,
along with the dates and times of their meet and greet sessions with the Winthrop
community. These sessions will be held in the Evans Room.

Brandy Cox Jackson Brandy Cox Jackson has built her career supporting the advancement of public and private higher education for more than 17 years. She currently serves as associate vice chancellor and executive director of the Arkansas Alumni Association. She leads a team in support of an interdependent association that provides scholarships, engagement and outreach for the University of Arkansas. She previously served as senior director and team lead for university programs at Oklahoma State University and began her career at the University of the Ozarks as director of Alumni Relations and then director of development. Cox Jackson holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Ozarks and a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive status in 2011. In 2019, she chaired the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District IV conference and in 2020 led the first pre-conference series for women’s leadership. William Roth William Roth was most recently the executive director for major gifts and faculty engagement at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where he led major and principal gift fundraising and stewardship efforts. As a de facto campaign director, Roth crafted a multi-year fundraising strategy for sustainable growth in fundraising through its Accelerating Impact Campaign, currently in its quiet phase. Roth has more than two decades of higher education leadership experience and more than 15 years leading development and alumni relations initiatives. He served as director of major gifts for Haverford College, executive director of development for Goucher College, executive director of development, intercollegiate athletics for the University of Pennsylvania, director of development for University College Oxford, executive director of principal gifts at the University of Toronto and associate dean of development and alumni relations at the Paul Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. Roth holds a master´s degree in history from the University of Virginia and a bachelor´s degree in medieval studies from Swarthmore College. November 14-15, 2022 |

Kevin Hughes Kevin Hughes currently serves as the Associate Vice President of Advancement with the New College Foundation. He has been with the New College Foundation since November 2019, and in this role, he oversees the foundation’s major gifts, annual fund and alumni relations programs. Hughes spent the first decade of his career working in the political world, serving in a variety of roles in the Ohio Senate and also with the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Given the fundraising experience he acquired in these roles, he transitioned to work in the non-profit sector in 2007. Hughes has spent 12 years in higher education advancement roles, working at both Denison University and Stetson University College of Law prior to his current position with the New College Foundation. A first-generation college graduate, he is passionate about providing educational opportunities to students of all backgrounds and experiences. Hughes received his bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, Penn., and currently serves as a member of the AFP Southwest Florida board. November 16-17, 2022 |
