Bio:

For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of owning an art gallery. The gallery would serve as a creative space to create art and collaborate. My life's purpose has been rooted in finding the proper avenue to create equitable resources to bring this dream to reality. Prior to becoming an art teacher, I attended Columbia College located in Columbia, South Carolina. I received a BFA in Fine Arts with a concentration in painting. Upon graduation I was hired as a lateral entry art teacher and obtained my teaching licensure. The past decade of my life has been dedicated to instructing students grades k-12 art in public schools. While working in the public school system, I gained experience volunteering for the City Arts Council. Volunteering for the City Arts Council sparked a deep interest for me to work in a different career setting. Most of the leaders in the City Arts Council possessed master’s degrees in Arts Administration. Learning how to become an Arts Administrator will bring me one step closer to fulfilling my life's mission, passion and dream. My hope is to learn how to properly access resources, lead arts programs and eventually open a collaborative arts space for the community. While working as an arts instructor in the public school system my dream of becoming an artist changed. I realized in order for my life to have more satisfaction and purpose I needed to give back to the community. Providing impoverished communities with access to educational arts programs will satisfy my hunger as a teacher, starvation for the arts and feed my dreams. Other passions of mine include photography, painting, hiking, kayaking, adventure and travel. I am also a freelance photographer and specialize in portraits and events.

Three professional goals I have for my career would be to work as an Arts Administrator for the City Arts Council, work for an art gallery while providing educational programs and ultimately open my own art gallery.

Six word biography: Starving artist, hungry teacher, feeding dreams.
