The Video minor is an 18-hour program.
The video curriculum is designed to meet the diverse interests of the students investigating
the contemporary field of Fine Arts in Video. In the introductory course, students
will explore video recording devices and editing software associated with video as
art. The foundation of the creative projects will be based around the visual components
and structure of the moving image.
Students will also learn about the theory and practice of time-based media art exploring
formal elements of technology, circulation, and context. Students will work across
social media, video, performance, sound, and installation, and explore site-specific
projection, public screenings, and collaborative projects.
Winthrop fine arts faculty are practicing professionals actively working in their field. These art historians, art educators, creative practitioners and scholars help students to explore and discover the potential within themselves.
The minor in Video consists of 18 credit hours:
Students are encouraged to complete ARTH 175 and ARTH 176 to complete General Education requirements.
