Brett joined Winthrop University in 2026, having previously served as the Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Limestone University. Prior to joining the Winthrop community, Brett taught at various institutions from the college level to elementary school. He has also conducted numerous workshops focused on artmaking in various media and techniques. Brett has served over a decade as a member of the Exhibitions Committee at the Waterworks Visual Arts Center (WVAC) museum in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Brett holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography from the Savannah College of Art & Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts Photography degree from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. His research interests encompass rural American communities, sustainable agriculture, and southern culture.
