Chris Paul is a designer, technologist, and creative leader whose career spans more than three decades of professional practice. He spent 18 years at IBM, where he established IBM’s first enterprise product design practice and was named an IBM Master Inventor. After IBM, he led product design at LPL Financial and Sunbelt Rentals and built the product design practice for Slalom Charlotte. His experience encompasses digital transformation, product design and strategy, software development, innovation, user experience, user research, and the development and leadership of multidisciplinary design teams.
Chris earned a B.S. in Design & Business from Eastern Michigan University and an M.F.A. in Design from the Yale School of Art. He has taught product design seminars at North Carolina State University and maintains an active studio practice as the founder of Old North State Press, a heritage crafts-based print studio specializing in letterpress, typography, and print experiences. His teaching interests include typography, interaction and experience design, visual communication, professional practice, and the relationship between traditional craft and contemporary design.
