Matthew Shealy earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Winthrop University in 2022. During his time as a student at Winthrop, he participated in multiple ensembles within the Department of Music, including Collegiate Choir and Symphonic Band. He also played the saxophone in the Screamin' Eagles Pep Band. Matthew returns to his alma mater after beginning his professional career at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where he served as the Assistant Sports Information Director since January 2023.
While at Methodist, he helped promote the university's 20 NCAA Division III varsity sports teams as he designed print materials and graphics for social media, captured photos during games and other events, and wrote game recaps and news releases for online publication.
As a student at Winthrop, Matthew served as sports editor for The Johnsonian for two years, leading the student publication's efforts to cover sports-related stories at Winthrop and in the Rock Hill community. He also spent time as a staff writer for The Palmetto Report, producing a variety of multimedia stories about campus, entertainment, and other news.
