New! Digital Reservation/Checkout system - Fall 2021

All reservations/equipment checkouts will be made on the the new Cheqroom Inventory system including Laser Cutter, 3D printer and Whisper Booth.   

Please see the lab monitor in Rutledge G-26 to reserve/sign out equipment. 


Laser Cutter Reservations 

Due to increase demand, please visit the CreatorSpace lab monitor or email to reserve your time. In the email list full name, Winthrop email, date, time and duration needed (up to 3 hours).  Your reservation is not confirmed until you receive an email confirmation. Please reserve enough time for printing and cleaning up. You must stay with your project the entire time.

*Maximum reservation time is 3 hours, however you may extend the time if noone is scheduled after you.


About Creator Space

Located on the ground floor of the Rutledge Building, The CreatorSpace was developed as part of a partnership between Winthrop University's College of Visual & Performing Arts and Knowledge Park.  The CreatorSpace provides students and faculty with a central location to converge and create. The space offers a variety of different materials for students, including a state-of-the-art sound booth and lighting lab, as well as digital cameras, computer and software, keyboard, projector, and 3-D printers.

Examples of Equipment and Functions

CS Lightlab* Yeager Theatre Light Lab - students acquire hands-on experience in the study of lighting design as an art that defines space and reveals form, and introduces all the tools, equipment and processes in a manageable 1:6 scale.
* Video production equipment  - used to create student-produced experimental video pieces
* Smart materials - integrated within the artist's studio including conductive fabrics, thread, and LED lights
* Flexible and rapid audio prototyping and recording sound isolation booth - using technology to enhance music production, creativity, and work flow. Students can create background music and voice overs.


Items printed on the large format printer or 3D printers must be paid prior to pick up in  Marketplace. The CreatorSpace lab assistants can assist with this process in The CreatorSpace.
