National Student Speech Language Hearing
Association
NSSLHA is a national student organization for
undergraduates studying human communication behavior. It is the only organization of its
kind recognized by the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA). Currently,
membership has surpassed 18,000 members in over 285 chapters. Winthrop's chapter is
active in the community through their service projects. This chapter also works towards
sending its members to the North Carolina and South Carolina Speech Language and Hearing
Association's annual conventions. Dues are $45/year, covering membership from January to
December.
Being a NSSLHA member has many benefits for your future
professional career. You will receive:
subscriptions to the following: the NSSLHA newsletter, News
& Notes; other NSSLHA publications like Contemporary Issues in Communication
Science Disorders (CICSD) and Clinical Series; ASHA publications like Asha
magazine, ASHA Leader, and others like the American Journal of Audiology
(AJA), the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology (AJSLP),
the Journal of Speech and Hearing Research (JSHR), or Language,
Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools (LSHSS);
reduced fees for the ASHA annual convention and other
yearly workshops;
access to a NSSLHA Mastercard, insurance plans, the
Employment Referral System/Placement Center;
discounts on other ASHA/NSSLHA products and publications
and the first year's dues in ASHA;

To affiliate with the ASHA when you have graduated, you must be an
existing NSSLHA member and submit your graduation date to NSSLHA and ASHA at the beginning
of your final year with NSSLHA.
