The primary responsibility of the members of the Division of Student Life is to provide developmental programs and support services which assist students' progress through Winthrop. Our goal is to engage students in all our university has to offer. We know that if each student fully engages with Winthrop, he or she will become a better person in and out of the classroom, and will get better grades, too!
The Division of Student Life's mission is providing opportunities and services to foster student development along cognitive, personal, and interpersonal dimensions. As educators, we work with our faculty colleagues to nurture and stimulate student learning and success within a pluralistic campus community. We accomplish this by delivering primary services that provide for the out-of-classroom caring for students, the foundation upon which classroom growth occurs. We enhance the quality of campus life, establish a sense of community and school spirit, and foster students' overall maturation and ethical development.
Please remember, students are selected to join this rigorous institution, and we rightfully have high expectations for you to continue achieving and learning "habits of intellect, habits of heart, and habits of appetite" that will serve you well for your lifetime. We expect you:
We ask all to take full advantage of the Winthrop Experience while working to fulfill the student government's Dedication for Excellence (pdf - 49 kb).
