Current Students

$6000 tuition reimbursement for eligible students majoring in dietetics.

Did you know?  Winthrop's Geography Program, housed in the Department of Human Nutrition, enables Winthrop students to minor in geography, earn geography credit for international study-travel, and fulfill general education requirements in social sciences and global perspectives.  

Did you know? South Carolina licenses dietetics practice and professional credentials of dietitians.  Details about the South Carolina dietitian licensure law are found in Title 40, Chapter 20, Sections 5-130 of the South Carolina Code of Laws. 

Did You Know?  The Commission on Dietetic Registration, the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education, and the American Dietetic Association provide a fact sheet for individuals with foreign degrees who are interested in becoming Registered Dietitians? Click here to view the fact sheet.

Prospective Students   Learn about academic and experiential requirements to become a Registered Dietitian. Already have a degree in another field? Complete a self assessment to determine if courses taken elsewhere might transfer toward nutrition degree or dietetics verification requirements. Find out how the nutrition science option can be used as a pre-medical school degree option. Learn more about the curricular content of a nutrition course.

Amber Summers, MHS, RD,  Senior Staff Nutritionist, Rippe Lifestyle Institute, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human nutrition at Winthrop University.  After graduating from Winthrop University, Miss Summers completed a dietetic internship at the National Institutes of Health and a graduate degree in clinical epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health in Maryland
