Goals and Standards for English Majors
   The Department of English considers the goals and standards set by many major accrediting bodies as it assesses and revises the courses our majors take. Currently, the standards we use are as follows:

• The Undergraduate Program Goals for the Department of English

• The Undergraduate Program Goals specifically for the Teacher Certification Track

• The Graduate Program Goals for the Department of English

• The Conceptual Framework for Teacher Education set by the Richard W. Riley College of Education at Winthrop University: The Undergraduate Framework, the Masters' Framework, and the MAT Framework. (All are PDF files). 

• The Goals for English Education set by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) (requires Adobe Acrobat plug-in)

• The Goals for Teacher Education set by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) (requires Adobe Acrobat plug-in)
