FAQs
How do I set up a Website
for my department?
- Fill out the
Web
Work Request
Form (you may also pick one up in 200 Tillman).
- You will need to have a WIN account to access the server.
- Organize your
site and compile all the information that you want to
see represented on the site. From there, we can put together
a comprehensive plan for your site.
When to use .GIF
and when to use .JPG?
Deciding what kind of image to use on your Web page is
extremely important. It can mean the difference between
people staying at your site or immediately leaving. These
two formats both have an up and down side. Here are the
general rules of thumb for image choice:
When to use a .gif?
- Small, iconic and thumbnail images
- Graphics, logos, logotype
- Flat color areas
- Some small-area photographic/continuous-tone images
(test to see if .gif or .jpg is smaller)
When to use a .jpg?
- Some small-area photographic/continuous-tone images
(test to see if .gif or .jpg is smaller)
- Large-area photographic/continuous-tone images
- When .gif is bigger than.jpg
- Lots and lots of colors (generally photographs)
