For Faculty

The Writing Center is continuing to grow, and each day we see more and more students from more and more different areas.  With this growth does come some difficulty for our tutors.  For most tutorial sessions, we still only have thirty minutes to work with students.  In that time, tutors have to gain some understanding of the assignment, find out what the students want to work on, and then help the students discover ways to improve their writing.  In order to help our tutors get to the part of helping the students, we have added a new section for faculty to our website.  This section has tips for writing assignments and tips for writing comments on drafts of papers.  We are not attempting to teach any professors how to teach, but if the tips in these sections, which are from clinical research in the Writing Center and from other viable sources, are put to use, the tutors will be able to help the students of Winthrop even better.
