Lois Rhame West Physical Education and Wellness Center

Winthrop’s largest building, the 137,000 square foot Lois Rhame West Health, Physical Education and Wellness Center, debuted in August 2007. Named for a 1943 Winthrop alumna and former South Carolina First Lady, Lois West, the signature facility utilizes the latest in environmentally friendly construction techniques. In addition to housing academic space for Winthrop’s health, physical education and sport management programs, the building is the home for campus wellness facilities. The West Center boasts state-of-the-art equipment and spaces including a two-story climbing wall, four full-sized basketball courts, four racquetball courts, an elevated running track, an 8,000-square-foot weight room, and a 25-yard swimming pool.
