Winthrop University has subscribed to the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) maintained at the University of Miami for provision of required training for all individuals conducting research or advising on research involving human subjects. Effective May 1, 2007, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) will only accept Requests for Review of Research Involving Human Subjects protocols from researchers that have successfully completed the appropriate CITI training course. Research involving human subjects may not begin until IRB approval has been received.
All faculty, staff and students involved either as a researcher or a research advisor must complete human subject training before the IRB will review the protocol submissions. Training certification is valid for three years after the date of successful completion of the training program.
If you have previously successfully completed the Human Research Training through the National Cancer Institute training program, your training certificate will be accepted for three years.
