Mission Statement
Didactic Program in Dietetics
Winthrop
University's Didactic Program in Dietetics provides graduates
with the foundation knowledge and skills needed for
current dietetics practice and prepares them for entry into
supervised practice programs in a variety of settings throughout the
nation.
Goals - Didactic
Program in Dietetics (as
reported in the Program
Assessment Report, November 2004)
1. The
program will produce graduates with the comprehensive background
needed for successful completion of
supervised practice experiences and the registration examination.
2.
The program will produce competent
entry-level dietitians functioning in a variety of practice settings
in South Carolina and throughout the nation.
3.
The program will prepare students to effectively
use resources and apply research principles to investigate and
resolve issues related to the dietetics field.
4. The program
will prepare students with the skills needed to remain current with
advances in dietetics and related fields, and recognize the
necessity for lifelong continuing professional development.
5. The program
will develop a diversity outreach program aimed at recruiting
underrepresented groups.
Accreditation
Winthrop University's Didactic
Program in Dietetics and Dietetic Internship are currently
accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics
Education (CADE)
of the American Dietetic Association
(ADA), 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2000, Chicago, Illinois
60606-6995, 312/899-0400, ext. 5400.
Winthrop University is accredited by
the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools
(SACS), as noted on page four of the 2007-2008
Undergraduate Catalog.
