The Secretariat is a body of devoted students with talents ranging from political excellence to artistic abilities, who volunteer their time to organize this conference.  The Secretariat is the heart of the Model UN Conference.  Without the dedication and diligence of this staff, the success of the conference would surely not exist.  World peace is our goal and the foundation for all our efforts is the hope that those we reach will further the concept of international harmony.  Winthrop Model UN Secretariat members also enjoy several social events and retreats each semester.

COLLEGE DEBATE & COMPETITIONS

In November, several of the secretariat members attend the Southern Regional Model United Nations in Atlanta, GA. Bineta Diop, representative of Norway, was awarded Distinguished Delegate for her role in the UNESCO Committee! Students also represented the Czech Republic at this conference.
The Winthrop Model UN Collegiate Team represented Egypt, Czech Republic, Norway, Russia and Jordan at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte's Carolina's Conference. The student's hard work paid off because Winthrop was awarded a Distinguished Delegation Award for all around performance and Justin Chitwood and Bineta Diop (Egypt-General Assembly) were granted Distinguished Delegate awards. Congratulations to everyone for a job well done in 2007. Best of luck next year!

WMUN CONFERENCE AWARDS

Each year, the Secretariat hands out its own set of awards to the most deserving members of this conference group. Some of the awards are silly, but most are rewards for the tremendous amount of hard work that each member dedicates to the conference - year round.
