Human Rights Council More 2009 Conference Information is Forthcoming

Chair's Report for the Human Rights Council
The Human Rights Council is an
international body within the United Nations system. This council's
purpose is to address human rights violations. The United Nations General
Assembly established the Human Rights Council on March 15, 2006. The vote
to establish the Human Rights council was opposed only by the United States,
Marshall Islands and Palau, and Israel. The Human Rights Council has no
jurisdiction or authority except to make recommendations to the General Assembly
, which will in turn advise the Security Council.

of Procedure for Model UN XXXIII Countries represented in the Human Rights Council are: Bangladesh, People's Republic of China, Cuba, Germany, Jordan, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Malaysia, Switzerland, Uruguay
