Pelvic Examination

• The means by which your provider can determine the condition of the external and internal female organs
• Specimens to diagnose cervical and vaginal health are collected during the pelvic exam; manual exam is also done at this time
• Women should not have had sexual intercourse, douche or use any vaginal preparations within 48 hours of the pelvic exam
