Pap Smear

• A simple but important procedure used in early detection of abnormal cells from the cervix which could indicate the presence of cervical cancer
• Collected during the pelvic exam
• Best collection time is 10-14 days after the first day of a woman’s period
• Do not have sex, douche or use internal female preparations for 48 hours prior to having the Pap smear collected
• Results in 7-10 days
