Personal Counseling
Concerns with adjustment to college life,
stress, self-acceptance, relationships, depression, anxiety, and family are a part of
life. At Counseling Services, students can discuss their concerns with a counselor
in order to find an appropriate resolution. In addition, students may have concerns
relating to their own or someone else's alcohol or drug use, eating disorder, childhood
abuse, or sexual assault. Our staff can consult, assess, intervene, and support
recovery from these issues and many other concerns.
Is it Time to Ask for Help?
According to the American Psychological
Association publication
"Talk to Someone Who Can
Help", you can tell if it's time to ask for help . . .
- When you feel like you can't do it alone.
- When you feel trapped, like there's nowhere
to turn.
- When you worry all the time, and never seem
to find the answers.
- When the way you feel is affecting your
sleep, your appetite, your relationships, your academic performance, your everyday life.
- When it's not getting any better.
How to Make an
Appointment
Appointments may be made in
person (205 Crawford Building) or by calling (803) 323-2233 during hours of
operation. Making appointments for someone other than yourself is generally
discouraged. If you have any questions about making an appointment, please call or
drop by and speak with the receptionist or a counselor.

fall and spring semesters, Counseling Services is open from 8:30 AM to
5:00 PM Monday through Friday, unless the University is closed.
Please contact Counseling Services for summer hours.
After Hour Emergencies
In emergencies, every effort is made
to see students immediately. After hours and on weekends, students in need of immediate
assistance should contact their RA or RD,
Campus Police
(323-3333), or
go to the emergency room of the nearest hospital.
Confidentiality
The information a student
