graduate assistantships are assigned to the College
of Visual and Performing Arts and are distributed as

Assistantship #1
|
|
Title:
Assistant to Technical/Safety Director |
|
Qualifications: Regular admission to
MFA program |
|
Duties:
Provides technical and safety assistance to the
director; monitors all 3-D studios
|
|
for efficiency and safety |
|
Relevance:
Direct relationship to situations encountered in the
profession, relationship |
|
to creative search and/or research via
studio experiences |
|
Hours per
Week: 20 |
|
Stipend:
$3,000 annually ($1,500 per semester) |
|
Fee Waiver:
Covers up to 9 semester hours of tuition |

Assistantship #2
|
|
Title:
Assistant to Visual Resource Director |
|
Qualifications: Regular admission to
MFA program |
|
Duties:
Provides assistance to the director; catalogues and
indexes photographic slides |
|
for the Slide Library |
|
|
|
Relevance:

library experiences |

Assistant to Supervisor of Computer Technology |

Duties:
Provides assistance to the supervisor, monitors
labs, specialized work in |

hardware/software needs of the lab |

Title:
Teaching a Course as Instructor of Record |
|
Qualifications: Eligibility begins
with post-30 earned hours including 18 or more in
the |
|
major area toward the 60 required hours of the MFA
degree, successful |
|
interview with the department chair, faculty
recommendations required |
|
Duties:

assigned, provides administrative

assistance as needed, planning and coordinating
tours, off-campus performances, |

maintains class rolls, assists with publicity and
recruiting |

organizational skills; skills/experience working in

Assists in all aspects of the operation of the Music
Library including check |

materials in and out, providing assistance to
students and faculty as requested |
|

Coordinates study sessions and tutoring for the
music theory program |

Percussion Assistant |

Qualifications:
Regular admission to graduate music degree program
or MAT; strong |

background in percussion studies and familiarity
with percussion |

equipment and their uses |
|
Duties:
Assist the Head of Percussion Studies as needed;
arrange for specific percussion |
|
equipment for various departmental activities;
assist in assigning parts to all |
|
percussion majors for various ensembles; maintain
percussion maintenance and |
|
inventory |
|
