Graduate Assistantship Job Description

 

Responsibilities:

Assist the director of the Office of Community Arts 20 hours/week with the following duties:

  • Assist with the marketing and publicity of CVPA
  • Maintain of the CVPA mailing database
  • Assist with event planning for CVPA including Medal of Honor in the Arts and Create Carolina Festival
  • Maintain Community Arts, Medal of Honor and Create Carolina websites
  • Maintain community media lists
  • Gather event information from departments
  • Assist with the distribution of events calendars and other information to the public
  • Update events hotline monthly
  • Distribute monthly events updates to Winthrop faculty/staff
  • Take photographs at CVPA events
  • Collect and maintain news media about CVPA
  • Enter event information on media websites
  • Write articles
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate student status at Winthrop University
  • Successful interview with the director
  • Experience in Arts Administration an asset
  • Good computer skills
  • Good writing skills
  • Familiar with Mac and PC environments
  • Web skills
  • Outgoing and engaging personality
  • Strong organizational skills and a self-starter
  • Good team player

 

Compensation:

Stipend: $1500 per semester

Fee Waiver: Covers up to 9 semester hours of tuition plus appropriate applied fees
