I am presently a Doctoral Candidate (ABD) in the Waterloo-Laurier Graduate Program in Geography at Wilfrid Laurier University under the supervision of Drs. Bob Sharpe and Russell Muncaster.

I completed a BA in the Department of Geography at Laurentian University in Sudbury (1997) with a specialization in GIS and remote sensing. Building on my undergraduate degree I began my MA in geography in the Waterloo-Laurier Graduate Program in Geography at Wilfrid Laurier University in the fall of 2000.

My MA research was focussed on geographic education and specifically the role GIS plays in the classroom. This role was examined through a qualitative questionnaire distributed to a variety of high school and university classrooms across the province of Ontario. I completed my MA in 2000. The thesis is available [HERE]

In the fall of 2000 I began my doctoral research at Wilfrid Laurier University. Working under a grant from GEOIDE , my research focussed on the development of a geo-spatial database of commercial locations for the CMAs of Sudbury, Kitchener and Ottawa-Gatineau, and the subsequent analysis of that database.

The overall goal of the dissertation is the develoment of a rules based model for categorizing and classifying retail locations. The end product is a specialized model of urban commercial space for the specific study area.
