The Minor in Environmental Studies

All of the students in the minor should have a broad background on how environmental issues are approached. This will be accomplished by having them take ENVS 101 (Introduction to Environmental Issues). The remainder of the minor will consist of an assortment of courses that focus on the environment from multiple perspectives (15 credit hours, with at least 6 above 299).

These courses include:

  • ANTH 540 (Ecological Anthropology)

  • BIOL 323 (Tropical Watershed and Coastal Ecology)

  • CHEM 101 (Chemistry and Society) or CHEM 117 (Environmental Chemistry)

  • ECON 343 (Environmental Economics)

  • ENVS 510 (Special Topics in the Environment)

  • GEOG 305 (Introduction to Geographic Information Systems)

  • GEOG 500 (Global, Environmental, and Sustainable Development)

  • HIST 530 (Environmental History)

  • PHIL 340 (Environmental Ethics)

  • PHYS 105 (Energy and the Environment)

  • PLSC 325 (Environmental Politics)

  • PSYC 311 (Ecological Psychology)

  • SOCL 310 (Environmental Sociology)
