Since joining the Office of Development in 2005, Laurie has used her extensive knowledge of finance to assist alumni and friends who want to make a gift to Winthrop through their will or via other types of planned gifts, such as trusts, gift annuities, life insurance and property.
Laurie is currently a member of the South Carolina Planned Giving Council and serves on its Board of Directors. In addition, she is a member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Higher Education (CASE), the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP), and the National Council for Planned Giving (NCPG).
In addition to her professional affiliations, Laurie stays active in the community as a member of the Fort Mill Rotary Club where she serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors. She is also on the Campaign Review Committee for United Way of York County and is a trained Hospice and Community Care Volunteer.
Prior to joining Winthrop, Laurie was a financial advisor with a national investment company. She also has commercial business development banking experience.
