Hello! My name is Crystal Bowens.  I graduated from Winthrop in December 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in General Business.

As a transfer student, Winthrop’s small class sizes initially attracted me. After visiting the campus and interacting with the friendly staff and learning more about the university, I knew this is where I wanted to be. Also, Winthrop is only about 20 minutes from Charlotte, NC (one of the Carolina’s largest cities) so location was an added bonus.

Although a public university, Winthrop has a “private” feel with a beautiful landscaped campus, a welcoming environment and several opportunities to meet new people from around the world.  Also, with more than 150 campus clubs and organizations and our Dinkins Student Union (DSU) voted best in the nation, bringing in many different bands and acts, there is always something to do on campus.

Choosing a college is a huge step, and I look forward to assisting students in that process.  I encourage you to visit the campus and see for yourself all that Winthrop has to offer. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at bowensc@winthrop.edu or at

1-800-WINTHROP.

I look forward to hearing from you!
