Undergraduate Commencement:

Diploma & Academic Regalia

Diplomas are not given out during the Commencement exercises, but may be obtained from a representative of the Records Office in a designated room off the arena floor immediately after the ceremony. Student Marshalls will direct you to the room.

Academic Regalia

All commencement participants must wear only appropriate academic regalia, which is distributed to students through the campus bookstore.   Men remove academic caps during the singing of the national anthem and the alma mater.

Cords and Pins for Academic Honor Societies allowed at Commencement

Graduates who are members of the following academic honor societies may wear the society's cord or pin as part of their commencement regalia.  Graduates will not be allowed to wear stoles, sashes, or medallions from these societies or any regalia from organizations not on this list.

Graduates who earn official Winthrop honors - Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude, and Honors Recognition - and graduates with Honors Program degrees will still receive cords from the Office Records and Registration staff at check-in for commencement.  The only medallion allowed is the Tillman Award medallion, presented at the ceremony.
