Dear Colleagues:

I want to take a moment to thank the campus community for supporting the recent Campus Climate Survey. As I have said, one of the university’s highest priorities is to ensure that Winthrop students feel safe on campus, particularly concerning issues of sexual harassment/assault. Benchmarking where we are in terms of student safety and awareness of support services with third party administration of a comprehensive survey is an important first step in determining the nature and extent of sexual harassment/assault among students, perceptions about how well campus authorities and local law enforcement handle reporting, campus constituencies in need of support, and areas of improvement.

I am particularly appreciative of all the students who completed the survey during a very busy time of year. Your time and attention resulted in a more than 20 percent response rate, which is outstanding for a survey of this kind. We are looking forward to all that we can learn from the analysis of our results within the next few months and will share that information when everyone is back in the early fall. I also want to thank those faculty and staff members across campus who encouraged students in your classes and in your sphere of influence to participate in the survey. We could not have achieved this response rate without your help.

As for the gift cards, winners have been identified and notified of their selection.

Thank you again for your support of the Campus Climate Survey.
