Dear Students:

I am pleased to share with you the spring 2017 Winthrop Magazine. In this edition, you can read about the McNair Scholars program and the exciting research that our scholars are conducting in a variety of disciplines. This program is just one example that illustrates Winthrop’s continued commitment to undergraduate research and the positive effect that high-impact practices have on our students’ futures.

There’s much more in this issue as well: a story on the nearly $3 million English language acquisition grant secured by the Richard W. Riley College of Education, a look into the course that Athletic Director Ken Halpin and I are co-teaching this semester, and compelling features on alumna Hazel Bailes Somerville ’69 and her involvement in the Winthrop Women’s Coalition, and Assistant Professor of English Dustin Hoffman and his award-winning book on blue-collar workers.

I encourage you to explore the magazine by clicking on the link above. Don’t miss the additional content, such as videos, available throughout. Please share the magazine with anyone who may be interested in all that is happening at Winthrop.
